Tropical Plants In the Snow?!
Tatsumaki Jigoku, Beppu

While Stuart and MinChi took the train to Hakata, I decided to stay behind in Beppu to check out a few jigoku (hells). These are hot springs that are not meant for soaking but they make for some spectacular views. At teh Tatsumaki Jigoku, the spring water warms up the surrounding area so that it was great for tropical plants. On the day that I was there, it was cold and snowing. I found the view really intriguing.
