Planning For Montreal 24 Supplies
I'll be competing at the upcoming 24hrs Inline Montreal event in mid July. Our team consists of 10 members and we would relay non-stop for 24 hours straight. My number one priority is of course training for this event. However, when I'm not training, planning for what I'm going to eat there is a lot of fun too. Similar to camping, we have limited tools and equipments to work with. More importantly, I need food that requires minimal amount of cooking (ready-to-eat would be best) without sacrificing nutrition and taste.
My recent attempts at homemade cereal bar yields fabulous results. They are delicious and healthy at the same time. Moreover, they are cheaper than store-bought. I will probably make a few batches with different combinations of fruit, nuts, and grains.
I know that I will crave protein. I'm thinking of bringing a variety of dry-cured sausages and cheese. With some crusty bread, they make a very tasty meal (to me). Fresh fruit and vegetable sticks would also be good. I recently discovered miso soup in a tube. All I need is to squeeze out a length of the mix, add hot water, and I have a piping hot bowl of miso soup. It is actually quite delicious.
That's about it, I think. After all, 24 hours is not really such a lot time, isn't it?
